With the new extension in sight The Copenhagen Metro asked Serious Games Interactive to help design a high quality simulation game that would prepare and train their staff for critical situations.

Metro wanted to target different segments of trainees with different levels of skills and experience each within their field and adding to this, they were clear about the fact that they needed an on-demand training tool.

We designed three different training modules that served different use cases and targets groups.The overall focus was to learn about the correct safety and maintenance procedures at the Copenhagen Metro. The game both simulates the process of handling train errors, control room communication, manually driving the train, and managing the electricity grid that powers the metro network.

The solution is built to include different versions of the train sets, and parts of metro lines M1 and M2 to cover all the necessary variations during simulation training. The solution was key to ensure high preparedness for rare incidents and scenarios. It also ensured that scenarios that cannot be trained in real-life but can have major impacts can be trained. While the solution was initially commissioned to support the ramp-up with new stewards as the Copenhagen Metro expanded it will also be key to keep a high preparedness across all stewards in the future.

The entire system is deployed through the customers existing LMS system, and with an editor that allows for easy updating as regulations and procedures change, so training reflects latest requirements.
